Start with the room you already have. A typical lounge holds two sofas, a coffee table and a television unit, and seats five or six people. Line the same walls with low Arabic seating and the room takes a whole extended family. That is the change most buyers want when they look for an Arabic majlis in Western Australia, and Sofhu builds it to order in Türkiye and ships it free.
From lounge suite to majlis
The picture below is an ordinary starting point: two fabric sofas facing a coffee table.

A majlis uses the edges of that room instead of the middle. Seating runs along the walls and armrests divide the run into places. The centre stays open for a rug, a tray of tea or children. Sofhu makes it in two forms: the raised, fully upholstered Arabic majlis shown in the photographs here, and the low Arabic floor sofa, where seat cushions rest on the floor and loose backrests lean on the wall.
One point decides the plan. Arabic floor sofas are not freestanding, so every section needs a wall or something just as solid behind it. A lounge sofa can float in the middle of a room. This seating is planned along the walls.
Not every household wants to give up its sofa, and it does not have to. The cream and gold majlis below shares a room with a fireplace and mantel without looking out of place.

Our guides to mixing a majlis with Western furniture and the majlis compared with a sectional sofa help with that decision, and the Arabic sofa page shows the styles available.
A community that goes back to the cameleers
Muslim history in Western Australia begins with the Afghan cameleers of the nineteenth century. The communities in Perth today are broader: Afghan, Iraqi, Somali, Indonesian and Malay families among them.
That mix produces very different orders. An Afghan household may ask for long toshak mattresses. A Somali family can read how we approach their sitting rooms on the Somali Arabic seating page. Others want a plain, modern row of low seating for a prayer and family room. Sofhu works from your description and photos, not from a fixed catalogue of sizes.
Arabic seating for the alfresco
Many houses here are single storey with a roofed alfresco area off the living room. In a climate with long, dry summers, that is where guests end up in the evening.
Sofhu has a separate outdoor range for this. Its fabric is water resistant, described as able to handle light rain and moisture, and spills wipe off. There is also the Arabic sunbed, a foldable lounger that packs away when not in use.

Be realistic about the sun. Sofhu has not published a sun-resistance rating for its outdoor fabric. Keep the seating under the roof, avoid the side that takes the afternoon sun, and ask Sofhu which colours it advises for a bright position. The outdoor majlis page gives layouts, and the existing outdoor sofas and mats page shows the products.
Covers for a hot, dry summer
Western Australia’s summers are hot and dry, in the Mediterranean pattern. Indoors, that points to cool fabrics in colours that do not show dust.
| Priority | Choose | Avoid |
|---|---|---|
| Staying cool | Linen or flat woven covers | Heavy pile in an uncooled room |
| Hiding dust | Mid tones, patterned weaves | Very pale plain fabric |
| Easy washing | Any Sofhu cover, all are zippered | Fixed, non-removable upholstery |
| Formal look | Velvet in a cooled room | Velvet beside a sunny window |
Sofhu states that its covers can be machine washed at 30°C. In a dusty summer that is the feature you will use most.
What is inside the seat
The foam is 32 kg/m³ polyurethane, written as 32 DNS in Türkiye. Density is the weight of a cubic metre of foam, and denser foam generally keeps its height and support longer. It is a different measure from firmness. On a custom order you can ask for a softer or firmer seat. There are no springs in the cushions.
Majlis sofa delivery to Western Australia
Distance usually adds to the cost of furniture. Here it does not: Sofhu’s shipping is free worldwide, Western Australia included. The set is vacuum packed in Türkiye and sent by cargo carrier to your address. Open the sealed bags by hand, never with a blade, and leave the foam to expand.
Taxes or duties may apply depending on the destination. Ask Sofhu before you order, and see importing a majlis to Australia. The existing page on Arabic sofas in Australia has the national overview.
Measure, photograph, send
- Measure each usable wall at floor level.
- Mark doors, sliding doors, windows and air-conditioning units.
- Photograph the room, and the alfresco if you want outdoor seating too.
- Pick a layout and a few colours.
The method is explained in how to measure a room for a majlis. Then get a quote by measurement or send it all on WhatsApp.
