Farwaniya is two places at once. It is Kuwait’s most populous governorate, and a great part of that population lives in the dense expatriate districts of Farwaniya itself, Khaitan and Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh. Beside them are Kuwaiti residential areas such as Ardiya and Andalous, with family houses and proper diwaniyas. Anyone looking for a majlis sofa in Farwaniya is shopping for one of two very different rooms, and the first step is knowing which.
Sofhu makes both kinds to order in Türkiye and ships them free to the door.
Two rooms, two briefs
| Apartment set | Diwaniya seating | |
|---|---|---|
| Typical layout | Single wall or L-shape | U-shape on three walls |
| Used by | The household, daily | Guests, on gathering nights |
| Priority | Saving floor, easy washing | Number of seats, a formal look |
| Often added | Two floor cushions | Rug, ottomans, curtains |
Everything else follows from this. Sofhu makes two products, and they map onto the two rooms. The Arabic floor sofa is a low seat mattress with loose back cushions and armrest blocks, light and easy to rearrange, which suits a flat. The Arabic majlis is raised to sofa height and fully upholstered, with a solid base and tall fixed backs, which is what most diwaniyas are furnished with. Either can go in either room, and the foam is the same.
The apartment set
In a flat, the seating shares the room with everything else, and sometimes with several adults. Keep it to one or two walls.
A single row along the longest clear wall is the simplest answer. An L-shape in the corner, like the blue floor sofa below, seats more and still leaves the centre of the floor open for a meal laid on a cloth. Sets are modular, so the pieces can be pushed together or rearranged when the room has to do something else. Small-room layouts are worked through in a majlis in a small apartment.

Majlis sofa Farwaniya: seating a full diwaniya
In Ardiya, Andalous and the other Kuwaiti neighbourhoods the order is usually for the diwaniya: the reception room, often with its own street door, where the men of the family host. The usual form is a U along three walls with the elders at the head.
For this room, count seats before choosing fabric. Decide how many guests the room should hold on an ordinary evening and how many on a large one, then let the wall lengths settle the rest. The guide to how many people a majlis seats helps with the arithmetic, and the tradition is described in Kuwaiti diwaniya. A complete set can include the rug, ottomans, curtains and wall decor as well as the seating; the majlis sofa set page lists what goes into one.

One fabric family, plain and patterned
The fabric swatches in the gallery on this page show how Sofhu’s chenille collections are put together. The colours shown are navy, gold and olive green, and the designs include a large single medallion, a smaller repeating medallion and a banded pattern. Used together they give a room pattern without clutter.
For an apartment, lean on the plainer designs with one medallion cushion. For a diwaniya, the large medallion on every backrest is what gives the room its formal rhythm. Sofhu says its chenille sheds very little. Other options, including velvet, linen and woven series, are on the existing fabrics page.

Foam and cleaning
Both rooms are hard on seating in their own way: one through daily use, the other through sheer numbers. Sofhu uses 32 DNS foam, which weighs 32 kg per cubic metre and has no springs. Density is not firmness. It is how much material is in the cushion, and denser foam generally keeps its support longer. Ask for a softer or firmer feel when you order.
Covers unzip and, as Sofhu states, wash at 30°C. Kuwait’s dust settles on everything, so a tight weave that brushes clean is worth choosing.
How to order from Farwaniya
Sofhu has no shop or stock in Kuwait. You send the wall lengths, door and air-conditioning positions and a photograph, and ask for a quote for that room. What moves the figure is explained in what affects the price of a custom majlis.
Shipping is free. Import charges may apply depending on the destination, so ask first. The national overview is on Arabic sofas in Kuwait, and nearby pages cover Kuwait City, Hawalli and Jahra. When you have your numbers, get a quote by measurement.
