Anyone searching for a majlis price finds the same thing on most makers’ sites: a photo, a description, and “contact us”. That is frustrating, and it is also the truthful answer. A custom majlis is cut to one room. Until the walls are measured, nobody knows how much foam and fabric the order needs.
What we can do is show how the figure is built. There are seven factors, and you control every one of them. Understand them and you can shape an order to your budget before you ask for a quote.
Why there is no single price
A ready-made sofa is one object in one size, so it has one price. A majlis is a length of seating fitted to walls. The same design may be a short row under a window in one home and a three-sided set around a large guest room in the next.
Sofhu is the manufacturer, not a reseller, and builds each set from the customer’s measurements. So how much a majlis costs is worked out per room. The quote you receive is for your walls, your layout and your fabric. Ask for it to list the pieces.
Sofhu makes two products, and the same factors price both: the raised, fully upholstered Arabic majlis and the low Arabic floor sofa of floor cushions. The photographs in this guide use one floor sofa design to show how size changes an order.

The two photographs show one floor sofa design at its smallest and at its largest. Everything between them is a matter of the seven factors below.
The seven factors behind a majlis sofa cost
They are listed roughly in order of weight, heaviest first.
Factor 1: total seating length
Length is the biggest single factor. Every extra metre of seating is another stretch of seat foam, another backrest, and fabric for both. Add up the walls your seating will run along and you have the number that moves the quote most.
It follows that the first way to fit a budget is to decide which walls really need seats. A wall with a door in the middle, or one that only ever holds a television, may be better left clear.
Factor 2: layout
A single row, an L and a U of the same total length do not cost quite the same. Corners add work: pieces have to meet neatly, patterns have to line up across the join, and each corner needs backrests on two walls. Open ends need armrests to finish them. The L-shape and U-shape majlis page compares the layouts.

Factor 3: seat height
Seat height is mostly a question of foam thickness, and on raised designs, of the base under it. Sofhu offers cushions in different thicknesses. A thicker seat uses more foam along the whole length of the set, so the choice multiplies across every metre. A raised majlis or a framed set adds a base to build and upholster. The majlis seat height guide helps you decide what your household needs.
Factor 4: foam
Foam is where cheap floor seating saves money, and where you feel it later. Sofhu fills its seats with 32 kg/m³ (32 DNS) high-density foam and uses no springs. Density is the amount of material in the cushion. Denser foam generally keeps its height and support longer than light foam, and it costs more to make because there is more of it.
When you compare an Arabic sofa set price from two makers, ask each for the foam density in kg/m³. A lower figure can explain a lower price. Our article on foam density for floor seating explains what the number means. On custom orders you can also ask for a softer or firmer feel.
Factor 5: fabric
After length, fabric is usually the next largest variable. Sofhu’s range includes velvets, linens, woven and jacquard fabrics, chenille, knitted fabrics and suede-type fabrics, and the fabrics page shows the series. Three things about fabric affect the cost:
- The fabric itself. Different series are priced differently.
- How many fabrics the design uses. A seat in one cloth, a base in another and a contrast panel on the backrest means three rolls and more cutting.
- Pattern matching. A large repeating motif has to be centred on every piece, which uses more cloth than a plain or small-patterned fabric.
Factor 6: detailing
Detailing is labour. Piping along every edge, metallic trim bands, embroidery, quilting, pleated rosettes on the bolster ends and hand-tied tassels all take time at the bench. Sofhu’s customer answers mention different stitching details and special embroidery as options. A clean, unpiped design in the same fabric and size will come out lower than a heavily trimmed one.
Factor 7: extras
The seating is the core. Around it you can add as much or as little as you like:
- extra throw cushions and floor cushions;
- an ottoman or pouf for the centre;
- a matching rug or kilim;
- curtains in a coordinating fabric;
- wall decor, on the lines that offer it.

On a complete Yemeni-style set the rug, curtains and ottoman are described as part of the set. On other designs they are optional. Ask which applies to the design you like, and say clearly which extras you want quoted.
What is included: shipping
Shipping is free worldwide. The floor sofa set price in your quote does not have a freight line added to it, whether the set is going to Michigan, Manchester, Melbourne or Muscat.
Customs is a different subject. Import duty and tax rules belong to the destination country and differ from one to the next. Duties or taxes may apply depending on where you live, and you can ask Sofhu about your destination before ordering.
How to get a firm quote in one message
A complete first message gets a complete answer. Send:
- Wall lengths for each wall the seating will run along, with the unit. Our guide shows how to measure a room for a majlis.
- Layout: single row, L or U, and which ends are open.
- Seat height: floor-level, mid or raised.
- Fabric and colour: a design you have seen on the site, or a description.
- Extras: cushions, ottoman, rug, curtains.
- Country and city for delivery.
- A photo of the room, even a quick one on your phone.
The full process, from first message to delivery, is set out in how to order a custom majlis online.
Ways to bring the custom majlis cost down without losing quality
If the quote comes back above what you planned, change the order, not the quality.
- Shorten the run. Dropping the shortest side of a U to make an L removes a whole stretch of seating and a corner.
- Simplify the fabric plan. One fabric with a contrast cushion costs less to cut than three fabrics on every piece.
- Choose simpler trim. Fewer tassels, bands and embroidered panels means fewer hours.
- Phase the extras. Order the seating now and add a rug or curtains from elsewhere, or later.
- Think again about height. If nobody in the house needs a thick or raised seat, a floor sofa uses less material.
What not to cut is the foam. A seat that goes flat is the one saving you will notice every day.
It also helps to say your budget plainly. If you are looking for an Arabic sofa set under 3000 in your own currency, or any other figure, give the number and the currency in your first message. It is far quicker to design towards a figure than to guess at one.
For buyers still comparing routes, marketplace floor sofa sets versus a custom majlis sets out what each gives you. Businesses ordering several sets should look at wholesale majlis and Arabic sofas. When you are ready, see what is available on the majlis for sale and majlis sofa sets pages, read how a custom majlis is planned, and get a quote by measurement or send the seven details above on WhatsApp.
