What arrives, and how to open it
A majlis does not travel as furniture in the usual sense. The cushions are vacuum sealed in plastic, which presses the air out of the foam and makes the parcels much smaller. Sofhu does this to cut the transport volume.
When the parcels arrive:
- Bring them into the room where the set will live.
- Open the outer wrapping by hand. Do not use a knife or scissors near the sealed bags.
- Open each vacuum bag carefully. The foam starts to expand as soon as air gets in.
- Lay the seat cushions flat and give them time to return to full height before judging the fit.
- Place the seats against the wall first, then backrests, then armrests.

Damp, cool air: looking after foam and covers
The climate is the real local factor. Cool, damp air is not dangerous to either kind of set, but it rewards a few habits.
Keep the covers washable. Sofhu’s covers are zippered and removable, and the company states they can be machine washed at 30°C. Dry them fully before putting them back on.
Air the cushions. Seats that sit directly on the floor should be lifted from time to time, especially over a concrete slab or in a ground-floor room.

Know what is inside. The filling is 32 kg/m³ polyurethane foam with no springs, so there is no metal in the cushions to rust or creak. Denser foam generally keeps its height and support longer than light foam. On custom orders you can ask for a softer or firmer seat.
A compact set for a rented room
The Arab and Muslim community in the province is small, and most of it is in and around St. John’s. - Decide the trim separately. Tassels and fringe change the character of a set more than most people expect.
