People type “order majlis online” hoping for an add-to-basket button. For made-to-measure seating there is none, and that is a good thing: a set built for your walls starts with a conversation, not a checkout. This walkthrough shows that conversation from the first message to the day the parcels arrive, so you know what you will be asked, what you should ask, and what to have in writing before anything is cut.
It applies whether you are in Detroit, Birmingham, Berlin, Sydney or Riyadh. Sofhu has no local shops. The set is made in Türkiye and delivered to your door.
The steps are the same for both products Sofhu makes. An Arabic majlis is raised, sofa-height seating built as upholstered units with fixed backs and arm bolsters. An Arabic floor sofa is a low cushion set: a seat mattress on the floor, loose back cushions and armrest blocks. Most photographs on this page show a majlis.
Step 1: send measurements and photos
Everything begins with the room. Measure each wall the seating will run along, corner to corner, and note where doors, windows, radiators and sockets fall. Our guide on how to measure a room for a majlis shows the method for L and U layouts.
Then take three or four phone photos: one from the doorway, one of each wall that will have seating. Photos answer questions a number cannot, such as how low the window sill is or which way the door swings.
Send these by WhatsApp or through the quote by measurement form, and add your country and city.
Step 2: pick the product, layout and seat height
With the walls known, two decisions shape the set.
Layout. A single row along one wall, an L in a corner, or a U around three walls. The same design can be made in any of them.

Seat height. This is the choice between the two products. A floor sofa sits at floor level, or a little higher with a thicker seat. A majlis is raised to sofa height. Think about who will use the room. Children and cross-legged sitters are happy low; elders and stiff knees prefer higher. Sofhu offers different cushion thicknesses on request.
If you are unsure, ask for the same room to be planned two ways. Seeing an L and a U against your own walls usually settles it. The custom majlis page explains what else can be adjusted.
Step 3: choose fabric by photo and video
Choosing cloth you cannot touch is the part that worries buyers most. It can be done well with a little method.
- Start from a design you like on the site, or from the fabrics page, and say what you like about it: the colour, the sheen, the pattern.
- Ask for photos and a short video of the fabric in daylight, with something plain white in the frame. White gives your eye a reference, so the colour reads more truly on your screen.
- Look at the images on two devices. If the colour differs between your phone and a laptop, the truth is somewhere between.
- Describe your room. Send the wall colour, the floor, and any curtains or rug that are staying.
- Say how the room is used. A family room with small children and daily meals needs a more forgiving fabric than a formal guest room.
The same majlis shape looks like a different piece of furniture in a different cloth, as these two show.

Sofhu’s designers also work with customers by video call. Use it for fabric: a call in which someone holds the roll to a window tells you more than a dozen stills.
Step 4: confirm the plan and the quote in writing
Before production you should hold a written summary that you have checked line by line. Ask for a sketch of the layout with lengths marked if one has not been sent. Confirm:
- every wall length, compared with your own tape;
- the layout and which ends are open;
- the product, majlis or floor sofa, and the seat height or cushion thickness;
- the fabric for each part: seat, base, backrest, armrests, cushions;
- the list of pieces, including throw cushions, floor cushions, ottoman, rug or curtains if you want them;
- the total, and that shipping is free;
- the full delivery address and a phone number for the carrier.
Ask at this stage about payment and about anything else that matters to you, and keep the answers in the same chat. Then read the summary once more. A made-to-measure set is cut to what you confirm. If you are still weighing the figure, what affects the price of a custom majlis explains which choices move it.
Step 5: while your custom majlis order is being made
Sofhu handles the work in-house, from production to dispatch, and each product is inspected before it leaves. While the set is being made there is little for you to do, but two requests are sensible.
First, ask for a photo or short video of the finished set before it is packed. It is your chance to see the real fabric on the real pieces.
Second, prepare the room. Clear the walls the seating will lean against, and decide where the parcels will be opened. Floor sofas are not freestanding and need a wall or another hard surface behind the back cushions, and a majlis is made to stand against its wall too, so move radiator covers, skirting heaters or anything else that would hold the seats away from the wall.
Step 6: shipping and majlis delivery
Shipping is free worldwide. The set travels in sealed vacuum packaging, which makes the parcels smaller and protects the fabric.
Import rules are the one part that changes by country. Duties or taxes may apply depending on the destination, and you can ask Sofhu about yours before you order. For background, see our guides to importing a majlis to the USA and the UK.
When the parcels arrive:
- Check the number of parcels and look at the outer packaging before the carrier leaves.
- Open the plastic by hand. Do not use a knife or any sharp object on the vacuum bags.
- Let the pieces expand. Opening the bag starts the foam recovering its shape.
- For a floor sofa, lay the seat mattresses along the walls, stand the back cushions behind them, and place the armrest blocks at the open ends. For a majlis, set each upholstered unit against its wall in the order shown on your plan.
