Tabuk's winters are cold by Saudi standards, so a majlis sofa here is best ordered in a warm fabric such as velvet or chenille, or in sadu-pattern weave for a tent-style room. Sofhu builds each set to your wall measurements in Türkiye, fills it with 32 kg/m³ high-density foam, fits removable zippered covers and ships it free to north-west Saudi Arabia.

Winter in Tabuk is the season that sets the terms. The city sits in the north-west of Saudi Arabia, where desert nights are cold and the nearby mountains occasionally see snow. A majlis sofa for Tabuk chosen from photographs taken in Jeddah or Dubai can turn out too cool to the touch for half the year. Sofhu makes each set to order in Türkiye, so the fabric, layout and firmness can be decided for this climate from the start.
It makes two products. The Arabic majlis is the raised, fully upholstered set with a fixed back that furnishes a formal guest room, and it is what most of the photos here show. The Arabic floor sofa is cushion seating on the floor, with loose backs and floor pillows, the natural choice for a tent-style room.
Seating for cold desert nights
The fabric against your hand and legs is what you feel first on a January evening. Pile fabrics hold warmth. Flat, smooth weaves do not.
| Fabric | Feel in winter | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Velvet | Warm, soft | Sofhu describes it as durable and easy to clean |
| Chenille | Warm, textured | Very low shedding, according to Sofhu |
| Suede | Warm, matt | Sofhu recommends it for autumn and winter |
| Linen | Cool | Better kept for a summer room |
The existing velvet floor sofas page and the fabrics page list the series, and velvet, linen and jacquard compared weighs them up. Summers in Tabuk are still hot, so a household with one main sitting room may want a warm set with lighter throws for July.

Under the cover is 32 kg/m³ polyurethane foam with no springs. A raised majlis keeps the sitter well clear of a cold tiled floor, and on a floor sofa a thick foam seat does the same job. Add a rug in the centre. Sofhu can supply one to match the set.
Tent-style seating and the sadu pattern
Tabuk’s region has a strong Bedouin heritage, and the bayt sha’ar, the goat-hair tent that is the origin of the majlis, is still used across Saudi Arabia as a winter gathering place for family and friends. A tent room, or a room in the house furnished in that spirit, calls for a low floor sofa with loose floor cushions and an open centre for the coffee.

Sofhu makes floor sofas in sadu-pattern fabric, like the cream one above, woven with the geometric bands associated with Bedouin weaving. These are upholstery weaves, not hand-woven sadu, and that is what makes them practical for covers that are unzipped and washed. The page on Bedouin majlis and sadu weaving explains the tradition, and the Saudi majlis page covers the regional picture.
One practical rule: floor sofas are not freestanding. In a tent the backrests need a low wall, a rail or a rigid panel behind them.
Plain modern sets
Not everyone wants pattern. A set in a single colour, with quilting and trim for detail, sits well in a new-build villa or apartment.

The grey velvet majlis above gets its detail from a quilted base and a single tassel. A floor sofa can be made just as plain.
Camps, lodges and project orders
Tabuk is the main city of the north-west, and its province includes the NEOM development and part of the Red Sea coast. Buyers furnishing camps, lodges, staff lounges or guest rooms in the region can order through Sofhu’s wholesale channel, which is open to small and large companies and works to a project brief. See wholesale majlis and Arabic sofas and the guide to majlis seating for glamping and desert camps.
How an order reaches Tabuk
There is no Sofhu shop in Tabuk. The set is made in Türkiye, vacuum packed so that the foam travels compressed, and sent by cargo carrier with free shipping. The article on how a majlis is packed and delivered describes opening the bags and letting the cushions recover. Sofhu confirms timing and routing for your address when it quotes. Duties or taxes may apply depending on the destination. The page on ordering a majlis in the GCC lists the questions to ask, and the existing Arabic sofa in Saudi Arabia page gives the country overview.
