When a relative arrives after a long drive, or neighbours come by on a feast day, the room has to take everyone at once. Order as much or as little of the room as you want. A floor sofa itself is seat cushions, back cushions and armrests. Around it, Sofhu can add a matching rug, a padded ottoman that works as a low table, and loose floor cushions for children and extra guests.

A majlis sofa in a Lincoln living room
Start with the walls, because the seating depends on them. Floor sofas are not freestanding and need a wall or something solid behind the backrests.
- U-shape. Uses three walls and seats the most people. It suits a living room or a finished basement kept for gatherings.
- L-shape. Uses a corner and leaves the rest of the room open.
- Single row. One wall only. It fits beside existing furniture, or in a bedroom corner.
Low windows are not a problem for a floor sofa like the cream sadu-pattern L above, since its back cushions sit below most sills.

Foam and fabric for Nebraska winters
