A Barcelona flat gives you two places to sit: a small living room and, if you are lucky, a terrace. A majlis sofa can serve both, but not with the same set. Indoors you want compact seating cut exactly to the wall. Outdoors you want fabric made for weather. Sofhu makes both in Türkiye, to your measurements, and ships them free to Barcelona. There is no local shop; the set is built after you order and delivered to your door.

Arabic and Moroccan seating in Barcelona

Barcelona and Catalonia are home to Spain’s largest Moroccan and Pakistani communities. El Raval, in the old city, is the best-known centre, with Pakistani and Moroccan shops, halal butchers and tea rooms. In these households low seating around the walls is the normal way to receive guests, serve tea and gather the family for Eid.

People searching for a Moroccan sofa in Barcelona should know one thing first. The traditional Moroccan sedari is a raised banquette: a wooden base at bench height with mattresses and fitted covers on top, arranged wall to wall around a table. Sofhu makes two other things. The Arabic majlis is a raised, fully upholstered set with a solid base and fixed backs, like the sky blue one at the top of this page. The Arabic floor sofa is a low set of seat mattresses and loose back cushions. Both are used the way a Moroccan salon is, along the walls. Sofhu also builds raised sets on wooden frames, like the one below, for buyers who want a seat closer to the Moroccan one.

Compact layouts for small city apartments

Small apartments reward exact sizing. A set that is a hand’s width too long blocks a door; one that is too short leaves a gap that collects cushions and toys.

This seating is not freestanding. It stands against the wall, so count only solid wall when you measure, and measure at floor level. A majlis in a small apartment works through real room sizes.

Getting a floor sofa upstairs is easier than with a framed sofa. Its cushions are vacuum packed into sealed bags and have no rigid frame. Open the bags by hand and the foam expands again. A majlis is more structured, so ask how its units will be parcelled for your building.

Covers for humid Mediterranean summers

Barcelona summers are warm and humid, and a seat cover that traps heat is unpleasant by July. Sofhu describes its linen as breathable, with high moisture absorption and a porous structure that feels fresh in hot weather. Woven fabrics are described as non-wrinkling. Velvet looks richer and suits a cooler, shaded room.

What matters most in this climate is that the covers come off. Every Sofhu cover has a zip, and Sofhu states they can be machine washed at 30°C. Light colours such as the sky blue at the top of this page, or a red that hides marks, both work when the cover can go in the machine.

Under the cover is 32 DNS foam, which weighs 32 kg per cubic metre and has no springs. Denser foam generally holds its height and support longer than light foam. You can ask for a softer or firmer seat.

A majlis for the terrace

For a terrace or rooftop, ask for outdoor seating. Sofhu’s outdoor range uses fabrics it describes as water-resistant, which wipe clean and cope with light rain and moisture. The outdoor majlis page shows the options, and balcony and patio majlis ideas deals with small spaces.

Ordering from Barcelona

Send the wall lengths, a photo, and your colour and fabric ideas by the quote form or WhatsApp. For a terrace, add its dimensions and say whether it is covered. Shipping is free. Duties or taxes may apply depending on the destination, so ask before you order and see the guide to ordering a majlis from Türkiye to the EU. For the rest of the country, Sofhu’s page on Arabic sofas in Spain is the place to start.

Questions

Before you order

Is a Sofhu set the same as a Moroccan salon?

No, and it is better to know before ordering. A Moroccan salon uses the sedari, a bench-height wooden frame with mattresses on top. Sofhu makes raised, upholstered Arabic majlis sets and low Arabic floor sofas. It also makes wooden bench-frame sets, which are closer to the Moroccan form. Say which you want when you ask for a quote.

Can I leave an outdoor majlis on my Barcelona terrace all year?

Sofhu describes its outdoor fabrics as water-resistant and able to handle light rain and moisture. It has not published guidance on leaving cushions out permanently, so plan to bring them in or cover them during storms and through the wettest weeks, and ask Sofhu what it recommends for your terrace.

My living room is narrow, with a balcony door at one end. What fits?

Usually a single row along the longest solid wall, with an ottoman that can be moved when the balcony door is open. If the opposite wall is free, two facing rows work better in a narrow room than an L-shape, because the corner piece takes floor space near the door.

Do you deliver to Hospitalet, Badalona, Santa Coloma and the rest of Catalonia?

Yes. Shipping is free across Spain, so the whole Barcelona area and the rest of Catalonia are covered. Give the complete address and floor number with your measurements. Sofhu does not publish transit times, so ask for current timing when you request your quote.

Can Sofhu furnish a tea room or small restaurant in El Raval?

Yes. Cafes, restaurants and shisha cafes are among the uses Sofhu lists for its seating, and it takes project orders from businesses. Send a floor plan with wall lengths and the number of seats. Removable covers are useful in a venue, because a stained cover can be washed without replacing the seat.
