On this page
This page is a practical guide to getting an Arabic majlis in Slovakia. Slovakia’s Arab and Muslim community is small and centred mainly on Bratislava, so you are unlikely to find a specialist shop to visit or a local maker to compare. The workable route is to order from the manufacturer. Sofhu makes the seating in Türkiye, cuts it to your room and ships it free to your address. Below is what that involves, step by step.
Step one: decide what you are ordering
An Arabic majlis is seating that runs along the walls of a room. Sofhu makes it as two different products, so settle this first:
- Arabic majlis. Raised to sofa height: fully upholstered units with a solid base, tall fixed backs and arm bolsters. The photos on this page show majlis sets.
- Arabic floor sofa. Low: seat mattresses that rest directly on the floor, loose back cushions that lean against the wall and armrest blocks, usually with an ottoman and floor cushions.
- Extras for either. Loose cushions, a matching rug and curtains.
Both are made in sections, so the same set can be rearranged later. The one fixed rule is that the seating is planned along a wall. A floor sofa in particular is not freestanding and needs a wall, or something equally solid, behind its back cushions. The Arabic majlis and Arabic floor sofa pages explain each type, and majlis for sale covers how buying online works.

Step two: measure the room
Sizing is where a made-to-measure order succeeds or fails, and it takes ten minutes.
- Choose the walls the seating will run along. Use solid wall only.
- Measure each of those walls at floor level, in centimetres. Skirting boards make the floor measurement shorter than one taken at chest height.
- Mark anything that interrupts the run: doors and the arc they open through, radiators, balcony doors, built-in cupboards.
- Take one photo from the doorway and one of each wall.
Apartment living rooms usually suit an L-shape in one corner or a single row along the longest wall. A U-shape needs three free walls and is better kept for a separate room. The full method, with sketches, is in how to measure a room for a majlis.

Step three: choose fabric and firmness
Sofhu offers velvet, linen, chenille, woven and knitted fabrics, and the colour and pattern are set per order. A few plain guidelines help a first-time buyer:
| If you want | Consider | Because |
|---|---|---|
| A warm, formal look | Velvet | Sofhu describes it as durable and easy to clean |
| A cool, casual feel | Linen | Described as breathable and absorbent |
| Low maintenance | Woven fabric | Described as non-wrinkling |
Every cover is zippered and removable, and Sofhu states they can be machine washed at 30°C.
The filling is the same across the range: 32 DNS polyurethane foam, which means it weighs 32 kg per cubic metre. Density is not the same thing as hardness. It tells you how much material is in the cushion, and denser foam generally keeps its height and support longer than light foam. There are no springs. You can ask for a softer or firmer feel, and for thicker or thinner seat cushions. The custom majlis page lists everything that can be changed.

Step four: ask for the quote
Send the measurements, photos and your fabric ideas through the quote form or on WhatsApp. Sofhu replies with a layout and a price for that room. Its designers can go through the plan on a video call, which is worth doing if this is your first majlis. The whole sequence is set out in how to order a custom majlis online.
Living with the set afterwards
A majlis asks for little upkeep. Vacuum the seats as you would a sofa. When a cover needs washing, unzip it, wash it at 30°C and put it back on the foam once it is dry; Sofhu advises against tumble drying its velvet covers and against using sharp objects on the fabric. Because the pieces are separate, you can swap the seat that gets the most use with one from a quieter corner, or pull two sections apart to make room for a Christmas tree or a guest bed.
Arabic sofa set delivery to Slovakia
Finished cushions are vacuum packed into sealed bags. This shrinks the shipment and, for a floor sofa, means there is no bulky frame to get through a stairwell or a lift. When the parcels arrive, open the bags by hand, never with a knife, and let the foam recover its shape.
Shipping to Slovakia is free. Slovakia is an EU member, so a shipment from Türkiye enters under EU import rules. Duties or taxes may apply depending on the destination, and Sofhu has not published how they are handled, so ask before you place the order. The guide to ordering a majlis from Türkiye to the EU explains the general process.
Sofhu also has pages for neighbouring Austria and Hungary, which may help if you are ordering for a second home across the border.
