For a majlis sofa in Manama, Sofhu builds the set in Türkiye to your wall measurements and ships it free to your door; nothing is sold from a shop in Bahrain. Apartments in Juffair and Seef usually take an L-shape or single row. In Manama's humidity, choose breathable covers that unzip and wash at 30°C over 32 kg/m³ foam.

Where do you buy a majlis sofa in Manama if the ones in the shops do not fit your wall? You have it made. Sofhu is a manufacturer in Türkiye with no premises in Bahrain; it cuts each set to the measurements you send and ships it free to your address. That suits Manama well, because many of the capital’s homes are apartments, and an apartment wall is rarely the length a ready-made jalsa assumes.
Apartment living in Juffair and Seef
Manama is Bahrain’s commercial centre, and districts such as Juffair and Seef are built up with apartment towers that are popular with expatriates and with visitors from Saudi Arabia at the weekend. Living rooms here are often open plan. The seating shares the floor with a dining table and a television wall, and one side is often glass from floor to ceiling.
Neither product is planned freestanding. A floor sofa’s back cushions have to lean on a wall, and a majlis is built to line one, so glass walls and balcony doors do not count. In practice that leaves two layouts:
- An L-shape in the solid corner, with the short arm stopping before the balcony door.
- A single row on the longest wall, with floor cushions and an ottoman pulled in when guests come.

Sofhu makes two products for a flat like this. The Arabic majlis is raised to sofa height, with an upholstered base, tall fixed backs and arm bolsters. The Arabic floor sofa, shown above as a single row, is a low cushion set on the floor with loose back cushions, an ottoman and floor pillows.
A full U-shape belongs in a separate guest room or a villa majlis. If your room is small, the advice in a majlis in a small apartment will save you a mistake at the measuring stage.
Humidity decides the fabric
Summer in Manama is very humid, and an honest fabric recommendation starts there. No cover is immune to mould if it sits damp in a closed room. What works is a cloth that breathes, covers that come off, and air moving behind the cushions.
Sofhu describes its linen as moisture-absorbing, with a porous weave that feels fresh in hot weather. Woven and chenille covers are a good middle course. Velvet is fine in a room that is air-conditioned most of the day; in a room that is closed up for weeks it is the fabric that needs most care. Every cover is zippered, and Sofhu states they can be machine washed at 30°C. The comparison of velvet, linen and jacquard sets out the trade-offs.

The cushions themselves are 32 kg/m³ foam (sold in the trade as 32 DNS) with no springs. Denser foam generally keeps its shape longer than light foam, which matters when the same seat is used every evening.
The souq, the cafés and Ramadan
The old Manama souq is a familiar place to look at fabric and trimmings before deciding on a colour. Take a photo of what you like there and send it; a custom order can follow a reference.
The city also has a large café trade and, each year, Ramadan tents. Ramadan is the peak of Bahrain’s social calendar: after iftar and the evening prayers, majalis fill and guests move from one to another through the night. Café owners and hosts who need seating for the season should enquire early and give the wall lengths of the whole space. See majlis seating for events and Sofhu’s page on Arabic majlis for cafés.

Ordering from Manama
Measure each solid wall at floor level, mark the doors and sockets, and photograph the room from the entrance. Send both through the quote form or WhatsApp with the layout you have in mind. Sets travel vacuum packed, so the parcels go into a lift without trouble.
For the country as a whole, read Sofhu’s existing page on Arabic sofas in Bahrain and the guide to ordering a majlis in the Gulf. The tradition behind the room is on the Bahraini majlis page. If you are furnishing a house rather than a flat, the pages for Muharraq and Riffa deal with courtyard houses and villa majlis rooms.
