On this page
This is a practical page. If you live in Luxembourg and want an Arabic majlis, the questions are how to order one, what exactly you receive, and how it gets to your door. Sofhu is the manufacturer. It builds each set in Türkiye to the measurements of your room and ships it free to Luxembourg. It makes two products, the raised and fully upholstered Arabic majlis and the low Arabic floor sofa built from floor cushions, and this guide covers ordering either.
Can you buy an Arabic majlis in Luxembourg
Yes, by ordering direct. Sofhu has no shop, agent or stock in the Grand Duchy, and it does not pretend to. A search for a majlis sofa near you will not turn up a place to sit on one. What you get instead is a set made for your walls, which a shop could not offer from stock.
Our majlis for sale guide explains how buying online works in general, and the Arabic furniture store page describes how Sofhu sells without premises.
Who this suits in Luxembourg
Luxembourg’s Muslim community is small and largely of Balkan origin, Bosniak and Albanian in particular, and Arab residents are found among the country’s international workforce. A made-to-measure set suits families who want a room for receiving guests in the way they are used to, and professionals on a posting who miss the sitting room they grew up with.
The other group is people who have no connection to the tradition and want comfortable low seating for a television room, a reading corner or a guest room. For them the modern Arabic sofa designs, in plain and lightly patterned fabrics, are usually the place to start.
Apartments and townhouses: what fits where
Many homes in Luxembourg’s towns are apartments or townhouses, and the two call for different thinking.
In an apartment, the living room does several jobs. Keep the majlis to one wall or one corner so that the dining table and passage stay clear. An L-shape in the corner furthest from the door can seat more people than a conventional sofa on a similar footprint. If you already own a sofa, see mixing a majlis with Western furniture.
In a townhouse, there is often a spare room, a converted attic or a garden-level room. This is where a U-shape makes sense: seating on three walls, the door on the fourth, and an open centre for a tray or for children to play. The grey velvet majlis at the top of this page is a U-shape of that kind, with a quilted base and diamond cushions.
In both cases the seating needs a wall behind it. Sofhu’s floor sofas are not freestanding.

What you receive: four package levels
Sofhu quotes a floor sofa at different levels of completeness. The chart below shows them for an L-shaped floor sofa, and the same logic applies to a single row or a U-shape.

| Level | Contains |
|---|---|
| Sofa only | Seat cushions, backrests, armrests |
| With rug | The seating plus a matching rug |
| With ottoman | Seating, rug and an ottoman as a low table |
| Full set | All of the above plus loose floor cushions |
Each piece has a zippered cover with its foam insert included. The foam is 32 kg/m³ (32 DNS) polyurethane, without springs. For the name and purpose of every cushion, read parts of a majlis set.
Fabric and colour choices
Sofhu works in velvet, chenille, linen and woven kilim-pattern fabrics. Velvet and chenille give a formal, warm look. Linen is lighter and, by Sofhu’s description, absorbent and comfortable in warm weather. Covers are removable, and Sofhu states they wash at 30°C.
Colour is a matter of the room. Grey, taupe and cream sit quietly beside contemporary furniture. Black and gold, navy or burgundy make a guest room feel like an occasion. Send a photo and the designers will propose combinations.
How delivery to Luxembourg works
- Measure each wall the seating will follow, at floor level, and note doors, radiators and windows.
- Send the figures with a photo through get a quote by measurement or WhatsApp.
- Agree the layout, fabric and price.
- The set is made, vacuum packed and shipped free to your address.
When the parcels arrive, open the vacuum bags by hand, without a blade. The foam expands and the cushions take their shape. The full sequence is described in how to order a custom majlis online.
For an upper-floor apartment, tell Sofhu about the lift and stair access. Loose cushions are easier to carry than a rigid sofa, but it is better to mention it.
Customs and tax
Shipping is free. Türkiye is outside the EU, so the shipment clears customs on the way in, and duties or taxes may apply depending on the destination. Sofhu has not published terms for Luxembourg. Ask before you order, and read ordering a majlis from Türkiye to the EU for what the official sources say.
Neighbouring countries
Luxembourg sits between three larger markets, and Sofhu’s existing country pages cover them: Arabic sofas in Belgium, Arabic sofa in France and Arabic sofa in Germany. For the product itself, the Arabic majlis overview is the best starting point.
