Morocco has its own seating, the salon marocain with raised sedari banquettes, made by local craftsmen. Sofhu offers a different, Gulf-style choice: the Arabic majlis, raised and fully upholstered, or the Arabic floor sofa, a low cushion set on the floor. Sofhu makes these sets to measure in Türkiye for riads, villas, hotels and lounges in Morocco, fills them with 32 kg/m³ foam and ships them free.

Morocco does not need to import a way of sitting. The salon marocain, with its sedari banquettes running along the walls, is made by craftsmen in every city and is often the most carefully furnished room in the house. So an Arabic majlis in Morocco is a deliberate choice of style: someone wants the Gulf look in a particular room. Sofhu makes that kind of seating to measure in Türkiye and ships it free. This page says plainly where it fits and where a local salon is the better answer.
Sedari and majlis are two different things
Both line the walls and leave the centre open, and both are made to the room. The differences are in height and purpose.
| Salon marocain | Sofhu majlis or floor sofa | |
|---|---|---|
| Seat | Mattress on a sedari, a wooden frame at bench height | Majlis: upholstered base at sofa height. Floor sofa: mattress on the floor |
| Centre of the room | A low table for the shared meal | Open floor or a small table for coffee |
| Covers | Fitted covers, the tlamet | Zippered removable covers |
| Maker | Local craftsmen | Sofhu, made to order in Türkiye |
The style page on the Moroccan sedari and salon marocain describes the Moroccan room properly, and Yemeni vs Saudi vs Moroccan majlis puts three traditions side by side. If you want a traditional Moroccan salon, a Moroccan workshop is the natural place to have it made.
Who orders an Arabic majlis in Morocco
Sofhu’s seating answers a narrower need.
- Riads and guesthouses. A riad is a house built around an interior courtyard or garden. A low floor sofa suits a roof terrace, a reading alcove or a tea room where guests are meant to sit differently from the dining salon.
- Hotels. A Gulf-style lounge is a recognisable offer for visitors from the Gulf. The existing page on a majlis for hotels shows that kind of project, and the wholesale majlis sofas hub covers larger orders.
- Villas. A second sitting room for family evenings or television, beside the formal salon.
- Themed lounges and cafés. Spaces designed around a khaliji look.

Raised base or floor level
A household raised on the sedari may find floor seating low. Sofhu builds both heights, as separate products. The Arabic majlis is raised to sofa height: a solid upholstered base, tall fixed backs and arm bolsters, as in most of the photos on this page. The Arabic floor sofa is the low one, a seat mattress on the floor with loose back cushions, shown from the side below. Sofhu’s wooden bench sets, presented on the existing bench-frame majlis page, lift the cushions onto a handmade wooden frame. Both raised options sit closer to the height of a banquette, though the carving and proportions are Sofhu’s own and not a copy of Moroccan work.

The comparison of floor seating and a raised diwan weighs comfort, cleaning and the look of each. One more difference is worth knowing before you choose. A salon marocain is where the family eats, at a table sized to the banquettes. Neither a majlis nor a floor sofa is planned around a dining table. If meals will be served in the room, say so and ask for an ottoman or low table to suit. Otherwise keep the meal in the salon and the majlis for tea.
Either way, a full set can include the seating, armrests, loose cushions, an ottoman, a rug and curtains. The chart below shows a floor sofa built up from sofa only to the full set.

Fabric for the Atlantic coast and the dry interior
Morocco’s climates differ sharply. The Atlantic and Mediterranean coasts are humid. Inland cities are dry, with hot summers.
On the coast, favour fabric that breathes. Sofhu describes its linen as absorbent and porous, with a refreshing effect in hot weather, and shows it on the linen floor sofa page. Inland, velvet and chenille are comfortable in the cooler months and give the deep colour that suits a tiled room. Courtyards and roof terraces need Sofhu’s outdoor line, in fabric it describes as water-resistant and able to handle light rain.
All indoor covers are zippered and come off for washing at 30°C. The seats are 32 kg/m³ foam with no springs. Density is the amount of material in the cushion, and denser foam generally keeps its support longer.

Arabic sofa set delivery to Morocco
Sofhu has no shop or stock in Morocco. Sets are made to order, vacuum packed and sent by cargo carrier with free shipping. Routing and timing to your city are confirmed for each order, and no fixed delivery time is published. Duties or taxes may apply depending on the destination, so ask Sofhu before ordering.
Reading in French or Arabic
Many readers in Morocco will prefer French or Arabic. Sofhu’s French page on the salon marocain and its Arabic page on the Arabic majlis cover the same ground in those languages.
How to ask for a quote
Measure each wall at floor level, mark doors and columns, and photograph the room. Say whether you want a raised majlis, a floor sofa or a bench base, and whether the space is indoors or open. Then get a quote by measurement or send the details on WhatsApp. Buyers in the commercial capital will find more on the Casablanca page.
