An L shape majlis runs along two adjoining walls and meets in the corner, leaving the rest of the room open. It suits living rooms with a door or window on one side. This gallery shows both raised Arabic majlis sets and low Arabic floor sofas in an L. Sofhu builds each one in Türkiye to your two wall measurements and ships it free worldwide.

L shape majlis sets for corner rooms
An L shape majlis takes two walls and leaves two free. That makes it the usual answer for a living room where one wall has the door and another has the television or a large window. Every set in this gallery is an L, and the photos are split about evenly between two different products. Roughly half show the Arabic majlis: raised, sofa-height units with an upholstered base, fixed backs and arm bolsters, mostly in velvet. The other half show the Arabic floor sofa: a low seat mattress with loose back cushions, an ottoman and floor pillows, in kilim, sadu, star and medallion weaves. Sofhu makes both, and the corner works the same way in each.
The mustard velvet set below is a majlis.

Choosing the two walls
Decide first which wall takes the long side. It normally goes on the wall you see as you enter, with the short side returning beside or beneath the window. Keep the door swing clear, and check radiators and sockets before you commit. Many of the sets here have one long arm and one short. Equal arms suit a square room.
What happens in the corner
Look closely at the corners in these photos. The seat and backrest continue through the corner so that no place is lost, and an armrest usually marks where one side ends and the next begins. On a majlis, like the black velvet one below, the corner is a fixed upholstered unit. On a floor sofa the two seat mattresses simply meet, and the loose back cushions close the gap. If you would rather keep the corner free for a small table or a lamp, say so when you order.

From L to U, and how to order
An L often becomes a U when a third wall is freed up. The L-shape and U-shape majlis page compares the two, and the U-shape gallery shows the result. For numbers of guests, see how many people a majlis seats. To order, measure both walls as described in how to measure a room for a majlis and send them through get a quote. Sofhu makes the set to those figures and ships it free worldwide. With only one wall free, the single-row gallery is the place to start.
