The first thing a buyer in Tallinn, Tartu or Pärnu usually asks is where to see one. The plain answer is that an Arabic majlis in Estonia is ordered, not browsed: Sofhu makes each set in Türkiye to the measurements of your room and sends it to your door with free shipping. This page explains how to plan one from a distance and get it right the first time.
Buying a majlis sofa in Estonia without a shop to visit
Estonia is a small market for this kind of furniture, and most people who look for it here already know what they want: a low, wall-hugging seating set for a guest room, a family room, a reading corner or a studio. Some grew up with a majlis. Others have sat in one while travelling and want that way of sitting at home.
Because nothing is held locally, the order is built around information you supply:
- the length of each wall the seating will run along
- where the doors, windows and radiators are
- the layout you want: one wall, a corner or three walls
- the fabric, colour and how firm you like the seat
Sofhu’s designers can go through the room with you on a video call. The longer walk-through is in the guide to how to measure a room for a majlis.
What arrives: the parts of a set
Sofhu makes two products, so first decide which one you are ordering. The Arabic majlis is raised to sofa height: fully upholstered units with a solid base, tall fixed backs and arm bolsters, like most of the sets in the gallery here. The Arabic floor sofa is low and modular. Its core is a seat mattress, back cushions that lean on the wall, and armrest blocks. Around that core you can add a rug, an ottoman that doubles as a low table, loose floor cushions and curtains.

The picture shows the same single floor sofa at four levels, from the seat alone to the full set. That flexibility matters in a country where many buyers are fitting Arabic floor seating into an existing interior. If the room already has a rug you like, order the seating only.
Low seating in a Baltic flat
A floor sofa changes how a room reads. It keeps the eye below the window sill, so the space above feels larger, and it leaves the centre of the floor free. In a flat that is an advantage.

A few planning rules hold for any Estonian home:
- The set needs a wall. Floor sofas are not freestanding. The backrests lean against a wall or another solid surface.
- Keep radiators clear. Stop the seating short of a radiator or split the run around it, and mark its position on your sketch.
- A corner is the efficient shape. An L-shape uses the two walls furthest from the door and seats the most people for the floor it takes. The article on a majlis in a small apartment shows worked examples.
- Order length, not a size label. There is no small, medium and large. The seat is cut to the wall.
Fabric for a cold coast and a warm living room
Winters on the Baltic are long and cold, but Estonian homes are well heated, so the seating lives at room temperature all year. That means the choice of fabric is about feel and upkeep more than insulation.
| Fabric | How Sofhu describes it | Suits |
|---|---|---|
| Velvet | Durable, easy to clean | Formal guest rooms, deep colours |
| Chenille | Very low shedding | Patterned, everyday family use |
| Linen | Porous, absorbent, smooth | Light, pared-back interiors |
| Suede-look | A good option for autumn and winter | Soft, matt finish |
Whatever you choose, the covers are zippered and come off, and Sofhu states they can be machine washed at 30°C. Velvet should be washed cool and kept out of the tumble dryer. The full list of series is on the fabrics page.
For a pared-back Nordic room, tone-on-tone greys, taupe and cream sit quietly against pale walls and timber floors; the modern Arabic sofa page collects those designs. If you want the opposite, a formal room with presence, the black velvet and gold set at the top of this page is the reference, and there are more in black and gold majlis ideas.

The foam inside
Sofhu fills its cushions with 32 DNS polyurethane foam. The number is a density: a cubic metre of it weighs about 32 kg. Density tells you how much material is in the cushion, and denser foam generally keeps its height and support for longer. It does not tell you how hard the seat is. That is a separate choice, and on a custom order you can ask for a softer or a firmer feel. There are no springs in the cushions.
Arabic sofa set delivery to Estonia
Sofhu is the manufacturer, so the order travels from the maker to you with no reseller in between. Each cushion is vacuum packed, which makes the parcels far smaller than the finished furniture and easier to carry up a stairwell. At home, open the sealed bags by hand, without a knife or scissors, and the foam starts to regain its shape.
Shipping is free worldwide, Estonia included. Türkiye is not an EU member, so an order is an import, and duty or tax may apply depending on the destination. Ask Sofhu how this works for Estonia before you confirm. The article on ordering a majlis from Türkiye to the EU explains the general picture.
